The mould maker lays the finished sculpt onto its back, trying not to disturb any of the delicate and fragile detailing. A clay wall is built carefully around the halfway mark of the puppet and then plaster or resin is poured onto the top of the model. Once this has set, the puppet is turned over, the clay removed and the second half of the mould is poured.
